False Alarms Can:
  • Take the Police away from other pressing matters
  • Become a nuisance to you and your neighbors
  • Make your security system less reliable
  • Make you reluctant to use your security system
  • Cost you money through false alarm fees
Fort Knox and the NBFAA recommend that you take these easy steps to prevent false alarms:
  1. Become familiar with how to operate your system and how to use its features.
  2. Please read and retain the operators manual for your security system.
  3. Make sure everyone who has a key to your home or business knows how to operate the security system.
  4. Rehearse alarm cancellation with everyone who might use your system.
  5. If your system does not seem to be working properly, call Fort Knox immediately.
  6. Call Fort Knox if you change your phone number or plan to move.
  7. Test your system regularly.

Regular testing of your security system can help ensure its proper operation at the time of an emergency and help prevent false alarms. Fort Knox recommends that most customers test their system once per month.

To Test Your Security System:

Please call Fort Knox at 1-800-432-1429 and one of our Customer Service Representatives will give you instructions on how to test your system.

To avoid a false alarm, notify Fort Knox when you will be testing your system to prevent the alarm monitoring station from dispatching authorities to respond to the alarm signal.
